THE CUBAN REBELLION.
AMERICAN INTERFERENCE.
POLITICAL JINGOISM.
Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright London, April 8. The New York Herald states that the President has sent secret agents to Cuba to ascertain the exact position of the rebels, and the amount of success they have secured. The Spanish public and press are much excited over the action of Congress requesting President Cleveland to mediate. The Cuba newspapers declare that the country will not brook any interference, and will not accept even mediation. The Spanish Government, however, preserves a calm attitude. The leading New York and European papers condemn the action of Congress as savouring of political jingoism.
