CARNIVAL IN SYDNEY. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, March 15. At the League of Wheelmen's Carnival yesterday the attendance numbered 14,000. The weather was dull. Several spills occurred during the day, Pearson sustaining a slight concussion of the brain and Mclnnes being badly bruised. The following were the principal results :—lnternational Scratch Mile—Megsou (New South Waleß), 1; Martin (America), 2; Lewis and Payne, dead beat, 3. On enering the home stretch the American was leading, but Megson came with a desperate sprint and won by two lengths. Time, 2min 27sec. Australian Cup, two mile3—T. P. Johnson (New South Wales), 160 yds, 1; W. W. Ha_kins (New South Wales) 120 yds, 2; Chapman 120 yds, 3. Won by 10yds. Pither (New Zealand) and Payne (New South Wales) who were both on the 15yds mark in the seoond heat, had a great set-to, Pither winning by half-a---wheel; but he was out-handicapped in the final. First Class Handicap —Martin 1, Parsons 2, Megson 3. Parsons led into tbe straight, bub the American won on bhe post after a wonderful sprint. Pither and Body (New Zealand) also started. Time, 4min 33£aec. Second Class Scratch Raca—Haskins 1, Phelan 2, Williams 5. Won by half-a-wheel. Time, 2min 32sec. Six heats of the Federal Stakes were contested. In the third heat Parsons and Megson, both on scratch, had to be content with the third and fourth place respectively, being beaten by the 40yds men. Pith«r was second in his heat, which Martin won.
