The members of the Northern Club have invited the Governor and the Admiral and officers of the tieet ia the harbour to the Club to dinner on Monday evening. WELLINGTON, March 14. Four informations h.-ve been laid against Mr £. J. Searie, a publican at Eketanuna, charging him with breaches of the Licensing Act in selling liquor at th_i recent Masterton show on a permit issued by the Clerk of the Borough Council upon the certificate ct two members of tbe Licensiug B-ncn. In consequence ot representations as to the existence of sweating in Wellington, the Premier has instructed the Labour Department to make enquiries upon the subjecr. Mr .H&selden retires on a pension. Mrs Haseldeu has lately come into a considerable legacy by the death of her brother, the late Mr Tiffen, of Napier. LEVIN, March 14. Mac Donald's examination is completed. Rangi Mairehau, an old chief of the Muaupoko, who was present at many tights on the block, is now giving evidence.
