PUBLIC NOTICES. -nCT E ABE BUYERS OF COCKSFOOT RYEGRASS OATS. EARLY POTATOES. CANTERBURY SEED CO., 12 CATHEDRAL SQUARE. W. N_ MACBETH, 146 CASHEL STREET, '*" Christchurch (Next Delamain'a Horse Bazaar), /COMMISSION MERCHANT, SEED AND GRAIN BROKER, LAND AND ESTATE AGENT. PROSPECTUS. lAt.mi.qed.l - THE CENTRAL OTAGO DREDGING COMPY. LTD. (To be Incorporated under the Companies Act, 1882.) CAPITAL .. .. £5000 Divided into 5000 Shares of 20s each, Of which 1000 fully paid-up Shares are to be allotted to the Vendors, or to their Nominees. Terms—2s 6d per Share on application and 2s 6d per Share on allotment, the balance in calls not exceeding 2s 6d per Share at intervals of not less than one month. Contributing Shareholders to receive back in Dividends the full amount of the called-up capital they have paid before any dividend is declared upon Vendors' Shares. When the whole of the called-up Capital has been repaid to Contributing Shareholders, the next £500 of profit to be distributed amongst holders of Vendors' Shares; thereafter all Shares to rank equally as regards dividends. THIS Company is projected to acquire and work mining areas, and in particular a mining area, on the Clutha River, about half a mile above the township of Clyde. Mr Leslie D. Macgeorge, C.E., has visited the ground, and his independent report, which has been made at the request of Messrs Quick and Smith, on behalf of the proposed Company, also the report of Mr Sheehy to the Vendors, can be seen on application to the Brokers. It is proposed to work the claim by a steam dredge with all the latest improvements. An elevator w_ll not be required. The mining area which the Company is formed to acquire consists of almost a mile of the river, and contains 41 acres 3 roods 16 poles, being Section 94. Block 1., and Section 143, Block 11., Leaning Rock District. The subscribers to the Memorandum of Association will act as Directors until the first statutory meeting of shareholders, which is required to be held within four months of the registration of the Company, and will prepare, settle and register Articles of Association in such terms as they consider desirable. The whole of the river between Clyde and Alexandra has of late years been taken up for dredging claims, and it is known that in almost every instance rich returns are being secured. Tlie claim is the first natural basin of made ground below the Cromwell Gorge, and owing to the Gorge and the configuration of the country, the river must have always flowed over the claim, and the vast deposits of " Molyneux gold" on the Dunstan Flat/and right down past the Island Block must have passed over the claim. As the current of the river is impeded by a line of rocks which cross the river at the lower end of the claim, a large quantity of gold must necessarily have been lef twith the gravel and other deposits, and there cannot be. a. risk "of the river having run in another course at tbe time it was bearing auriferous deposits. That gold does exist in large quantities within the area.of this olaim h*W been ft -quently.prored by., -be _ returns pbtain-lj' by,cradling; the::river■ la' ■ : IOW. "'-'■' '"■' ' .V : " ..-■.'.''.'
