A GIGANTIC DRAGON FLY.
From the coal-measures of Commentry, in the department of the Allier, M. Charles Brongniart has recovered several specimens of a gigantic dragon fly, Megancura. mongi, christened after the director of the local mines. This fearsome insect was 27 inches long, armed with huge jaws and teeth, and capable of terrorising over the rest of the insect world in a way that Hb tierce but diminutive descendants might envy.
