STYLISH COSTUMES.

A lovely dress of grass-green cloth intended for a leading mondaine, has the large sleeves piped with paler green, and a deep flat collar edged with pale green piping, while the front of the dress is filled in with miroir velvet, stamped with an Indian design, in-strong rose and golden colour. At either' side of the front, which is put in somewhat loosely, yet not so full as last season, there are three light and dark green square buttons ; three also appear below the waist. The skirt is plain, save for shoAving just a tiny bit of velvet at either side. The neckband is folded green satin, and the sleeves are gradually smaller as they near the wrist, where they fit over cuffs of the printed miroir Velvet Avith loose tabs, lined Avith paler green, and showing the lining slightly. The back is without scam, and cutlike a cape, brought to a point at the waist, with four embroidered buttons.

I was rather pleased Aarith a perfectly plain, well-fitting coat bodice of black satin, fastened with tiny crystal buttons, and having a neckband of rose-pink ribbon, tied in a small bow at the back. The. jabot was of fine cream Brussels lace, and the coat was worn with a skirt of cornfloAver-blue fancy cloth, but it would look equally well with a black skirt; or, in fact, Avith one of almost any colour, light or dark. The wearer was petite, but if the idea is adopted by a taller woman, the coat would be more becoming made Avith short, full basques. This costume is made of one of the new boucle woollen materials with the raised pattern in black on a myrtle-green ground. The godet skirt mounted in pleats at the back is lined Avith red silk, and open at the edge on each side of the front over small panels extending to the knee. The panels are of red cloth, braided with black and gold cord, the openings are framed by a band of red, bordered with cord. . Each panel is ornamented at the top with jet buttons. The bodice is a tight-fitting jacket with fluted basque, fastened in front under a graduated pleat of red cloth framed by double revers matching the panel; these are secured at the waist by three red cloth tabs fastened down with jet buttons smaller than those on the pleat. At the back is a square collar of the braided red cloth. The sleeves with drooping puffs are finished off with braided cloth cuffs. Sable boa with double tails. Black' felt toque trimmed with red velvet, a sable tail, and black aigrette. Quantity of material required, seven yards ; red cloth, one yard.

Dress of dark blue rep ; the skirt in gode* shape ornamented on each side of the front with narrow panels of black velveteen edged with jot. The bodice is made with plain sides and back, and a full front framed by brctelles of A-clveteen meeting the tops of the panels at the belt, which is ornamented with large jet buttons. Shoulder cape of velveteen forming epaulets and a yoke fastened invisibly in front, and lined Avith blue velvet. Fur trimming round the cape and collar, and on the eigot sleeves at the wrist. Fringed jet motifs on the shoulders and on the fronts. Beige felt hat trimmed AA-ith mirror velvet and black feathers. This dres3 looks extremely well in any of the fashionable woollens, and is an excellent model for a bride's travelling costume. Quantity of material required, woollen seven yards ; velveteen, three yards.
