SUPREME COURT TRIALS.

(P&BSB ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, March 12. In the Supreme Court Gavin Mclntyre Park, late postmaster and telegraph officer at Taupo, charged with stealing £442 6s 4d of Government money, was admitted to probation for twelve months. His Honour remarked that there was no doubt a good deal of suspicion, but he could simply go on what was proved. He took into account the fact that prisoner's accounts were not falsified, that he made an immediate con* fession, and that there was no attempt to falsify the books. The Government were actual gainers, for the prisoner's retiring pension was forfeited. His Honour hoped that the Civil Service guarantee fond would not be called on to make up the deficiency, seeing that the prisoner was entitled to compensation.
