WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, March 6. The Conference resumed its Ministerial session to-day. Further consideration of the application of candidates for tbe Ministry was deferred until further information had been obtained. It was resolved that the Rev. W. H. Judkins, probationer at Feilding, retire far one year, and that the Rev. J. W. Smith, probationer at Lake Wakatipu, withdraw from the Ministry o_ account of ill-health. The Rev. R. J. Murray, I'horndon, was granted one year's rest on the ground of ill-he_lth. The Rev. L. M. Isitt was granted permission to rest for another year to contiuua his temperance work. The request of the Rev. T. A. Joughin, of Te Aroha, f>r one year's rest to visit England vas granted. The recommendation of the Nelsou Conference in 1895, granting permission to the Revs. W. Lee and J. J. Lewis to visit England, was confirmed. An application from the Rev. W. B. Mar ten, of Oamaru, to visit England, in 1897, was deferred for one year. The request of he Rev. S. Bunn, of New South Wales, to coutinue as supernumerary was granted. The request of the Rev. W. Ready, a Minister from the Bible Curiatian Church, to visit England, was grauted, and it was decided that the Chairman of the Otago District confer with Mr Ready at the quarterly meeting as to a suitable supply. The Conference resolved ttiat Mr H. Craddock, M.A., Canterbury College, be sent to circuit work, and that Mr R. B. Chappell, a studont, be appointed to a circuit. It waa resolved to invite the Rev. D. O'Donnell, of Victoria, to act aa connexions- evangeli at in this colony for the year. The following readjustments in circuits were made :—Windsor was added to Christchurch. The proposals iif the Federal Council were adopted iv Kaiapoi, Springston, Amberley and Malvern, except that Springston is to have one married and one single minister. The Duuedin Mission, Hawea and Cromwell were also received as circuits from the Bible Christian Church. Reeftou and Westport were received as circuits from the United Free Methodist. The boundaries of District Synods were fixed aa at present in the Wesleyan Church. The General Secretary's report was read, and was of a satisfactory character. It was resolved by a sm*il maj >rity, 36 to 34, to contiuue the office of Couuexional Secretary, ami Mr Morley was re-appoint.d. The Rev. W. Ready aud the Rev. W. Grigg were appointed a Standiug Committee on behalf oi sister Christians. The Revs. J, Orchard and Smith were appointed to the Home Mission Committee. On behalf ot the United Free Methodists the Rev. A. Peters and Dr. Hosking were appointed to the Standing Committee. On behaif of Free Methodists, greetings were received from the South Australian Confereuoe and reciprocated. It is expected that the second reading of stations will take place to-morrow.
