MOA BONES.
Two men are at present, digging oub mo* bonea in the Kapua swamp, near IVaimite, t»iid it is astonishing the number that are still coming up. Several truck loads have: already been sent to Christchurch, and eiuoe then the meu havo unearthed bonea eati- . mated to belong to at lo*et 100 birds, and there is still no signs of the "Had" giving -out. The bones are found immediately ■ below the surface of the mvamp, and go nt deep down ue it is possible to dig, viz., 15ft At this depth it is difficult, to prooure teem ou accouut of the water filliog up the hole. On Saturday an egg was found iuelda the skeleton of a bird, out was all oruehad and broken, The men are still digging away, and are getting the bonea for Or, Moorhou»e aud Mr Cole, of Cbrietohuroh. Bones have *i t been found in other p*r*a of the swamp, and $ it is estimated that there are & qreatet ' number of moa bones in the Kapua swamp l_ than have yet been unearthed in any otlui.
