Negotiations are going on between the Powers and the Sultan respecting the formal recognition of Prince Ferdinand's election as the legitimate ruler of Bulgaria. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN BORROWING. Mr Playford, Agent-General for South Australia, states that the oolony is not likely to borrow to any large extent for several years. Before the loan was placed on the market one broker offered to supply the whole amount at 96. MR DILLON'S MOTION. Mr Dillon's motion, that the refusal of the Government to re-submit the Home Rule question had aroused the deepest discontent and resentment, was rejected by a large majority. The Irish party voted solid for the motion. DYNAMITARD PRISONERS. % . February 15. Mr Harrington moved that the Government should show clemency towards the prisoners convicted of dynamite outrages in Ireland. Sir Matthew Ridley, in reply, refused. THE REVOLT IN COREA. Marines from British, American, and French warships have been landed at Seoul, Corea, to protect their respective subjects. NORTHERN AUSTRALIA. February 16. In connection with the suggested formation of a chartered Company to take over the Northern Territory, Mr Chamberlain states that it is not intended to advise the revoking or amending of the agreement assigning the territory to South Australia. VOTE OF CONFIDENCE. Paris, February 14. The Chamber of Deputies carried a vote of confidence in the Bourgeois Government. AUSTRIAN AND HUNGARIAN CUSTOMS TREATY. Vienna, February 14. The Austrian Diet has invited the Government to denounce the Customs treaty with Hungary, but to renew it when certain abuses are corrected. AUSTRIAN REFORM BILL. February 15. The Reform Bill creates seventytwo new seats, and extends the franchise to men of the age of 24. ITALY AND ABYSSINIA. Rome, February 16. The Italian authorities have rejected King Meneleh's conditions for peace and the evacuation of Abyssinia. FREE SILVER COINAGE. Washington, February 15. The House, by a large majority, rejected the proposals of the Senate regarding the free coinage of silver. HAWAIIAN CABLE. February 16. The Committee of the Senate favours the granting of a subsidy of 160,000 dollars to the Hawaiian cable, and that enquiries should be made as to the resources and claims of the competing American Companies. BRAZIL AND ITALY. Rio ds Janiero, February 14. Brazil submits the Italian claims to American arbitration.
