The Hawke's Bay correspondent of this journal wires : —The annual general meeting of the Hawke's Bay Hunt Club was held at Waipawa on Saturday. Mr H. H. Bridge was called to the chair. Mr H. Groome presented the accounts for the year and explained them briefly. They had a credit balance last year of £40 8s 9d; subscriptions and profits of sports produced £260— .Total, £300 7s 9d. From this £300 had been paid to Mr Mason, the Master, who had agreed to hunt the district a year for that sum. There had been a falling off this year, but he had great hopes for. next season, as he had got several new members. The balance sheet was adopted,, and ordered to be printed and circulated. The chairman said they had a difficulty to face, as Mr K. Mason; the Master, proposed to visit the Old Country. It was resolved Mr G. L. Sunderland be deputy-master for the Hastings dis-, trict, and Mr J. B. Rhodes for the Rutaniwha district. In reply to the chairman, Mr Mason said he would hunt the country next season for £300, which was about what it would cost. The gentlemen present offered to do their best to raise that sum. The following officers were elected: —Committee, Messrs H. H. Bridge, T. Butler, T. Bridge, Gibbin, Godfrey, Sunderland, Rhodes, F. Orraond, J. K. White, A'Deane and K. White; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. Groome, who also received a vote of thanks for his past services. Mr J. B. Rhodes on behalf of the trustees of the late Onga Onga Racing club offered the balance of their funds some £18 in aid of the Hunt Club, providing the latter would hold its Steepleohase Meeting at that place, and he moved that the offer be accepted, which was carried. Later Mr Mason presented a purse of sovereigns on behalf of the club to Mr Groome, as a slight recognition of his valuable services. /. Mr Groome responded in a feeling manner.
