FOUR-OA.RED AMATEUR AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP.

SYDNEY, February 12.
At a meeting of the New South Wales Rowing Association lost night Mr E. D. Hoben, as representative of tbe New Zealand Association, explained the proposal emanating from the latter body for establishing a four • o*red intercolonial championship race. Letters were read from the Victorian and Queeusland Associations supporting the proposal. The meeting decided that a r*ce for the Fouroared Amateur Championship of Australasia, over a distance of three miles, be rowed on the Parramatta River, in May next, a week after the Eight-oared Intercolonial event. A Conference of representatives from the various rowiog Associations will then be held, when the question of making the race aa annual fixture will be decided. It was also decided to hold an Amateur Intercolonial Soulliug Championship Race on the date either of the eightoared or foar-oared race.

It is understood that all the arrangements for the despatch of a New Zealand crew to Sydney to take part iv the race for the four-oared championship of Australasia, will be made at a special meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowiug Association, which is to be held at Pioton during Easter.
