Compared with the prices obtained in December all merinos at the present series ware fully 5 per sent, dearer, crossbreds at par, while inferior sorts were 5 per cent, lower. The Americans took 21,000 bales. At the Bradford sales business is restricted. Crossbreds are $d below London opening rates. In merinos there have been a few transactions at £d to ld higher. The Antwerp sales are to be held on the oth and 6fch of February. The total number of bales catalogued for the latter sales is 5860, including 100 from Western Australia. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received tho following London cable message, dated 31st January, 1896 :— Tallow—Market quiet. Quotations irregular. Sheepskins—Long staple merino, fine crossbred, quotations unchanged since last telegram. Others £d lower.
