MR. CHARLES LEWIS'S COMMITTEE.
As will be gathered from an announcement in our advertising columns Mr. Charles Lewis's General Committee and its Executive meat to-night at the Committee rooms at eight o'clock. As the polling day is only ten days off now, it will be necessary for the Committees to redouble their exertions. There must be quite 17,000 or _8,000 electors on the roll, and efforts should i be made to secure the votes of ail : those who are not known to be against , us. The management Of matters on i the polling day will require moat •
; careful consideration, so that effective | plans may be devised for ensuring that i every supporter, of Mr. Charles Lewis who is not bed-ridden may b9 got to go to the poll and record his or her vote. The first essential for effective work is that the Committee should be as large as possible in numbers, so that an abundant supply of volunteers may be provided for Sub-Committees and so forth. We hope, therefore, that at to-night's Committee meeting there may be a very large attendance, not only of those already on the Committee, but of those who are willing to add their names to the list. There are only ten days more for work, and as we want not only to secure Mr. Lewis's return, but to secure it by a very large and decisive majority, we must work very earnestly indeed during those ten days, and. the Committee must be a very large one. It is earnestly to be desired, therefore, that to-night's meeting will be very largely attended by all classes of Mr. Lewis's supporters.
