NEW SOUTH WALES V. SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

The contest between the above colonies for the Sheffield Shield was played at Adelaide on January 3rd, 4th, and 6th, when the visitors won by an innings and 34 runs. A feature of the winner's innings was the stand made by Garrett and Howell for the last wicket, the pair adding no less than 84 while together. Giffen was bowled by a leg break before he had scored in the second innings. This was the tenth match between these teams, six of which have been won by New South Wales and four by South Australia.
