BEESWAX AND HONEY.
The Victorian Agricultural Department has received information that an experimental consignment of beeswax which it recently iorwaided to England has realised £150 a ton. The brokers to whom it was submitted declared that au even higher price might be obtained if the shipmente were continued and the purity of the article was beyond question. With the maintenance of a high quality there appears to be an exceedingly remunerative market for tbe product in London. Reports not so favour"able have been received respecting some Australian honey sent by the department. Experts regarded the Honey as of fairly good flavour, and of good colour and consistency. But it would not sell at more than from 21s to 22s per cwt. "Even if the honey is free from the eucalyptus flavour it still lacks the true honey flavour," says the report. At present prices, however, it is added, it would still sell largely for manufacturing purposes. Personal prejudice is stated by the department to bean important factor in dealing with buyers of this article. Until this is overcome beekeepers are advised to pay more attention to shipments of beeswax than of honey.
