The first part consisted of instrumental and vocal music. We were given a great treat in listening to Mr Hermann Morris's piano solo. He also accompanied several of the singers. Mr Ellis played the 'cello. Mr Geo. Morris contributed a violin solo. Among the vocalists were Mrs Smithson, Misses Gardner, Leech, and Hassell, Dr. Reid, Messrs Jefferson and Ernie Jone3. The room was then cleared for dancing. The success of the evening was due to the energies of the secretary, Mr Jefferson, and his committee. There were so many pretty dresses worn it would be difficult to describe them all. Among those present were Mesdames Luxmoore, Buchanan, White, Knubley, Turner, Bennett, Le Cren, Wood, English, Rhodes, Misses Gardner, Rolleston, Julius (2), McLaren, Reynolds, Priest, Kerr, Mcc (3), Hassell, Elworthy, Moore, Raymond and White, Messrs McLaren, Tripp, Gray, Elworthy, Le Cren, Turner, White, Wood, Perry, Sharland, Hassell, Buchanan, Drs.
