Drunkknnkss, &c.—For being found diuuk Mary Cunningham, an old offender, was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment with hard labour. Margaret Isles, for being drunk, was fined sa, or, in default, twenty-four hours' impriaoumeut, and for using obscene language she was ordered to be imprisoned uutil the rising of the Court. Prohibition Orders. — Orders to be current iv Chri9tc>iurch aud suburbs, were made in respect of a man aud a womac. The Law om Peouibited Pkrsoxs.— Da:iusl Crawford was enarged, under sectiou 25 of the Liquor Sales Control Act Amendment Act, 1895. that being a person under the operation of the clauses prohibiting him from obtaining liquor, he was found, on January 13th, in t.'ie Zetland Arms Hotel, and J. M. Walker, ihe licenses of the hovel, was charged with permitting the said Daniel Crawford to remain on his premises. Gt aw ford did not answer to the summons, and a warrant waa ordered to issue for his arreat. The case against the liceneee was adjourned sine die, pending Crawford's arrest-. Tub Lascaster Pahk Fence.—John Canavau, v young iruu, was charged with dAinagiuu the feuco of Lancaster P*rk. He admitted that he had climl>ed the fence. Mr Wilding, who appeared for the Lancaster Park Company, said that when any sports of note were in progress a great meitiy youths, to evade the fee for admission scaled the fence aud often not only got free ndmission but also damaged the fences. These fences were of corrugated iron from 7(t to 12ft high, with a serrated edge at the lop. damage to be made good, could inflict a fine up to £55. A previous conviction had been obtained, and tlie Compauy in riew of the supposed warning, did not press fora heavy peualty, and the offenders were fined Is each, but as this leniency had had no effect something more substantial was asked for. Mr lieetham said this mean practice appeared to be too common, bub as the defendant had, in answer to questions, shown that he had his mother and sisters to support out of £110s per week, he would bo let off with a fine of ss, with costs of Court 7s, and expenees of two witnesses 10*. Mr Wilding did not ask for a fee. Maisten'ancb.—W. H. Allen and hia wife were charged with failing to obey an order directing them to contribute, jointly, 7s 6d to the support of their father. There were arrears amounting to £9. The defendant applied for a reduction of the order. Mr Byrne appeared for the plaintiff, Mr Franks for the defendants, who pleaded poverty, and on the evidence the arrears were remitted except £3 and the contribution was reduced to 5s per week.— Donald LVmeron wus charged with failing to contribute 7a 6J per week, a3 ordered, to the support «>f \\U illegitimate child, there being £2 12j 61 Arrears. He did not appear, and was senteuced to one month's imprisonment with bard labour, also to find surety in the amount of £50 for future compliance with the order, or in def.uilt six months' imprisonment.—Elizabeth Partridge charged her husbaud, Francis l'*vrtrhige, with deserting her, and asked for provision for her maintenance. Mr Russell appeared for the plaintiff, Mr Caygill for the defendant. The evidence showed that ttfeer a long course of quam-lhog the defendant pushed his wife out of doors and told her to clear out, which she did. She now expressed her willingness to return, but her husband hesitating, his Worship gave him till the following day to consider whether he would take her back or be made the sulijsct of an order.
