Wednesday, January 22. There waa a fairly largo entry of stock iv the yards to-day, but the attendance was below the average. Fat Cattle—The entry of fab cattlo comprised 140 head, principally cowa, with a fssv pens of good steers. The tone of the market was somewhat irregular, but prices remained about tho Bame aa last week, viz., 14s to 17s per 1001b for cow beef, and 13s to 20s for best quality. Steers made £5 to £8 5-*; heifers £4 10i to £7 2s 6d; and cows £4 to £6 15». Daiby and Store Cattub.— The yarding of dairy cows was a little above the average iv point of numbers, but the quality was about the same as usual. There waa a rather bstter demand, especially for good cowa, and sales wore effected up to £7 23 6cl. The eutry of store cattle was smaller than for several weeks, and consisted of several useful lines of eighteonmonths and two-year-olds and the usual odd lota. Yearlings sold at 21s to 27e 61, eiphteen-months-old £2 9a, two-year-olds £2 10s to £3, and three-year-olds £4 12s 6d to £4 17s 6d, cows £3 lOi, aged.do 255. Pigs—About 250 pigs were yarded, and again an active demand was manifested for all classes, fate averaging the same as last week, viz., 34 I per lb. Biconere sold at 25s 6i to 45 1, porkers 13s 6:1 to 253, stores 7s 6d to 12s 6i, weaners 4j to 5j 6d, choppers 30a to 50a. Stoke Sheep—The store sheep pens were fairly well filled, and most of the lota submitted changed owners at about late rates. Four-tooth wethers in forward condition realised 11s to 11s 6d, two and fourtooth wethers 9a Id to 10a Bd, two and fourtooth maiden ewes 8* 10d, maiden ewes 9<>, two-tooth wethers 8a sd, lambs 33 9J to 7e 61, ewes and lambs 6s 2d, crossbred ewes 4o 3d to 8* 7d. Fat Lambs—There was again a full yarding of fat lambs, many being of inferior quality, and prices still showed a downward tendency. The demand was active, especially for good lines. Freezing sorla made 9a to 12s aud butchers' lots 6s to 8s 6d. Fat Sheep—The yarding of fat sheep was about the same as last week, ewea forming the largest portion. Buyers for export operated only moderately, and consequently the sale was a dull one, and valo.ee, except for prime sheep, showed a general .decline. Freezers brought 11s to 13s 6d, and butchers' crossbrede 6s to 8a 6d, and up to 103. 6d for better sorts, merino wethers up to 7s 2d, and merino ewes sa.
