CHRISTCHURCH ELECTION.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PBESS.
Sir,—lα the summary of Mr 'T. E, Taylor's views, eigned by himself and now being distributed in Ohrietcfaurch, be aaye —" If elscted I shall hold myself responsible to you only for the honest discharge of my Parliamentary duties,' and nob to- any political leader, as the tyranny exercised under the guise of party government threatens to doetroy tho reepeot for Parlia* menc that should exist." That is plain enough. Mr T. E. Taylor, if returned, intends evidently to use his position to effect! his prohibition ends, and for nobbing olee. Ho means to abolish party government' at once, so far aa ho is concerned.—Yours, &c, A Part? Man. TO TUB EDITOR OK THE PBESS. Sib,—l object to tho manner in which Mt T. K. Taylor tosses aside unpleasant questiona. I hope he will not {allow Mr Reeves' bad example. Ha ie scarcely strong enough yet to do so. Questions passed by the Mayor the other eveni&g were indignantly crushed up by autocratic Mc Taylor, and thrown under the table. Other question! were barked on the pretence that they'b&d already been answered. They might at least have been read, so that the audience could have determined the' point. A ques* tion put to Mr Taylor as to whether he was w< favour of tho inspection of. Catholio schools was not answered. ' Trusting Mr Taylor will try to bo as courteous as Mr Lewie in these matters—• Yours," &a.f No Kkcosbism.
