ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

1». - The accident to tbo porter, Mr C. White, at Rangiora on Tuesday, the 17th mat., terminated fatally. Tbo fleshy parts of tho left leg were much bruised, and mortification set in last Thursday. The unfortunate man's great wish was to see his father arrive from Invercargill, and he came up to Rangiora about midnight on Friday. White lingered on without complaining of any severe pain. Ho leaves a wife and three children, for whom, in consequence of the distressing nature of tho accident;, much sympathy is felt. An inquest was opened at Rangiora yesterday before Mr H. W. Bishop, Coroner, and a jury of which Mr C. I. Jennings was foreman. The jury viewed the body and tho points at which the accident happened, and the inquiry was adiourned till Saturday morning.
