The 8.?. Tarawera, Captain Sinclair, left Sydney ac 6 p.m. on the 9th and arrived at Wellington at noon on the 14th, sailed agaia at 515 p m. and arrived here at 10 a.m., experienced fine weather throughout. The B.s. Chilka, which is now on the way from Calcutta on account of the Union Steamship Company, is to mafce Wellington her first port of call, thence to Lyttolton, Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff It is understood that the White Star Line are building another steamer to replace the Doric (now named the Oceanic) in tho New Zealand trade. The new steamer will be a sister ship to the Gothic, but will differ as to passenger accommodation, it having been decided to adopt a similar plan to that of the Sbire Line of steamers, where a limited number of passengers is carried and special provision is made for cargo purposes. The new steamer, which will bo named the Doric, is to be fitted with all the latest improvements, and special facilities will be provided for the carriage of frozon meat. The greater part of the contract; for the supply of coal to the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamers for the net t twelve months has been secured by the Blackball Coal Company.
