Laitheid's dogcart ran away along North road across the traffic bridge and Charles street without doing any damage. No one was in the vehicle at tue time. Ax Incipient Fire at Rangiora.—On Monday evening tome attempt had been made to set tire to a disused shop building opposite St. John's Church. Had the premises caught fire with a nor'-wester in full blast t,t, o conflagration raised might have swept right along the main street. "The Flower Queen." — Thi« evening the cantata " Tne Flower Queen," which was so successfully given in the Bible Christian Church. Lower High street, will be repeated in the Oddfellows' HaH. Matatua. — The National Mortgage and Agency Company Limited has received a cable massage from London stating that the s.s. Matntna arrived there on the 13th iost. The wool shipped by her would thus be iv time for the Loudon sales, which commenced on Tuesday. Rangiora Literary Institute. — The monthly meeting of the Committee was held on Tuesday evening. Mr E. R. Good presiding. The Chairman was authorised to make arrangements for the renewal of the came. It was decided to purchase a few now books each month and to reduce the rent of the hall 53 for a concert in aid of a charitable purpose. Ouoka Sunday Schools.—Tho Sunday Schools of the Church of England and Wealeyan Churches at Ohnka, accompanied by teaoher* and friends, held an excursion by rail and tram to Sumner yesterday. The trainage charges were generously paid by Mrs j. S. White, and at Sumner Mrs R Chapman, of Lowland Leas, had arranged for the comfort) of the excursionists. One hundred aud tea joined in Mia picnic, and the weather was very favourable for the enjoyment of the treat, which was greatly appreciated by evcryono interested. Wedding.—A very pretty wedding took place ou Tuesday afternoon at St. Mark's church, Opav-'a, the contracting parties being Mr Y. Douald and Miss Beadel. The bride was given away by her brother, Jttr Harold Beadel. The bridesmaids were Misses Muriel Hassal, K. Wood, and R. Macdonald, Mr G. A. (J. Tapper being best man. The ceremony was performed by the Yen Archdeacon Cholmondeley. The service was choral. Mr L. Watkins, presiding at the organ, played the Wedding March, and the hymn " The voice that breathed o'er Eden," was Bung by the choir. The church, which was crowded, had been most tastefully decorated for the occasion by the frituds of the bride, Tmd the path from tho porch to the carriage was strewn with flowers.
