SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The usual meeting of the Richmond School Committee was held at the school-house on Tuesday evening. .Present—Messrs Snowball (Chairman), Darlow, Shaw, Atkinson, Mander and Sorensen. The. schoolmaster's report was received, stating that the average attendance for December was 457, roll number 527, the holidays having to some { extent interfered with the attendance. Miss Flesher, having passed her fourth year's, pupil teacher's examination, goes to the . Normal School. Two first year's pupil teachers were required, and the Committee decided to request the Board of Elucation to sanction the appointment of Herbert Chapman and EthelfeSorenseii, both pupils at the Richmond School. /Accounts amounting to £14 13s 3d were passed for payment. j The monthly meeting of the New Brighton School Committee was held on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs AVinny/ (Chairman), Owles, Pine, Marshall, and Wells. Correspondence was read from the Board of Education re nominations for the Board. It was decidad to have the ceilings of the. schoolrooms thoroughly cleaned and also to fumigate the rooms. The reply from the Board re enlarging the school was considered very satisfactory. Ihe meeting then adjourned.
