MR W. G. FOSTER.
" Weekly Press ahd Referee."
Mr Walter G. Foster is a colonist of over thirty years standing, having arrived in Nevr Zealand in 1862, and for many years was engaged in agricultural pursuits in Canterbury, being manager for the Messrs Rhodes' Purau and Seadown Estates. From 1878 to 1883 he was inspector and valuator for Messrs Miles and Co. and the Messrs Rhodes and Co.'s properties in Canterbury and Otago and was afterwards manager and auctioneer for Miles and Co.'s stock and produce department business. From 1889 to 1895 Mr Foster was manager of the Wellington branch of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Coy., and on his leaving was appointed colonial manager of the Bank of N.Z. Estates Coy. Mr Foster is endowered with a large amount of business ability and tact, and has the pleasing faculty of making friends wherever he goes. During the short period he has had charge of the Estates Coy., he his initiated several reforms in the conduct of the estates, and during the late Parliamentary enquiry was one of the few witnesses who could give anything like a clear idea of the value of the various properties under his charge. His appointment to be manager of the Assets Reah'zatioa Board is a thoroughly satisfactory one.
