RICH GOLD DISCOVERY.
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright Pebth, January 14. There is great excitement at Pilbarra owing to a rich discovery made under somewhat peculiar circumstances. Some Chinamen were felling timber and accidentally found golden stone outcropping. They broke off several pieces, which they took to Pilbarra. One piece, which measured 4 inches long and 2 inches thick, was almost pure gold. A party of miners immediately proceeded to the spot and, finding the reef, pegged out a claim before the Chinamen had time to return. Subsequently a rush set in, and all the adjoining ground was pegged off. All agree that the stone is of extraordinary richness.
