DECREASE OF EXPORTS.
The Journal of Commerce publishes the following figures showing the comparison of our exports for the year ending 30th September, 1895, with the same puriod for the previous year. In the North Island there was a net increase of £40,000, bat ai the output of gold from Auckland showed an increase of 00 less than £141.508, other products were worse by over £100,000. The chief ports suffered decreases as follows :— Napier, £64,000; Welliogton. £100,000, but these losses were in part compensated for by Poverty Bay, Waoganuj, and New Plymouth showing an advance of £116,000. The South Island fared much worse, LyttelWβ reduction being £37,000; Dunedin, £11,000; and the Bluff, £91,000. wool, gold, oats and frozen meat all contributing, lhe net result for the colony is a shrinkage for the year of £152,000.
