THE RECENT RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
TO TUB EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir,—Kindly allow mc apace in your valuable papoi* with reforenoe to the accident to the oxpress on Now Year's Day, I was very pleased that so able a pea as Mr Tamer's had takea the matter up, and would like to add my opiniou that; the accident would not have happened if the authorities, instead of sending a long train with two , engines in front, had eimply divided the train in halves and aenb it on as two trains with one engine to each. Aβ there were two guards on tho train it would not have required any ertra labour. Nothing could bo seen which would be likely to throw the engiue off, which makes it all the more necessary that there should be a thorough enquiry.—Yours, &c, W.J.M.
