The work of repairing the steamer Fifeshire is being pushed on with all despatch, Messrs Anderson, who have the contract, in hand, keeping some forty hands going day and night. The work is being carried out under the supervision of Captain Willis, Lloyd's Surveyor at Lyttelton.
The ship Hollenwobd still remains in the stream, and at present is engaged taking the coal out of No. 2 hold and stowing it in Nos. 1 and 4 'tween decks, so as to allow the seat of the heat to be reached.
The s.B. Tasmania left Bydneyat7.3s p.m. on the 24th December, Auckland on the 30th December, Gisborne on the 31st, Napier on the Ist instant and Wellington on the 2nd, at 7.10 p.m., and arrived yesterday morning. Experienced moderate variable winds and fine weather.
