SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF TEMPERANCE.
(PBXS9 absociatios teleobah.) WELLINGTON, January 3. The twenty-third annual session of the Grand Division, No. 10, Sons and Daughters of Temperance opened yesterday. Twenty-two representatives were present. The Grand Scribe's report showa* the membership to be 646 brothers and 265- sisters, a decrease fot the year of 44 members, the decrease being contributed to very largely, it' was stated, ' by the Sunbeam Division, Wanganni, which expelled daring the year 25 honorary members. The * funds of the order show an increase of £601 6s 3_.d. the total amount now being £6466 18s 4d, the average increase per member to the sick and general fond being brothers lis 3d, sisters 5s lOd. While thisisa marked improvement on the last year's average it is not adequate to meet the contingent liabilities. The following were elected officers for the ensuing year : —Bro. . W. F. Cooper, Christchurch, G.W.P. ; Bro. F. Lucas, Wellington, G.W.A, ; Bro. W. H. Seed, Christchurch, G. Scribe; Bro. F. Creaswell, Christchurch, G-.A.; Bro. F. W. Jones, Wanganni, G. Chaplain; Bro. O. Kent, Sydenham, G. Conductor; Bro. F. Barrows, Kaiapoi, G. Sentinel; Bros. O. A. Newman and A. Williams, G. Auditors. . It was decided to amend the by-laws to enable persons between the ages of sixteen and twenty-one years to join the Order on pay. moot of half fees, receiving in return hal»' benefits.
