PLUCKY LADS.
Whilst the members of the Wellington 80/s' Institute were in camp at Porirua daring the Christmas holidays a boy named Samuel Murray, while bathing, was seized with cramp, and called loudly for help. At first bis companions thought be was merely skylarking, bat on his real condition becoming known another boy named James Corner promptly swam to his assistance. Corner's strength, however, was not equal to his pluck, for Money, who was a much bigger boy, grasped him round the neck, and the two disappeared under the water. Seeing thiß, another member of the Institute, Ivie Brown, also went to the rescue, and deftly
pushed the other two boys until he had got them into shallow water. Money was considerably exhausted, and wonld probably, it i 3 thought, have been drowned had it not been for the promptitude and pluck of Corner and Brown, who deserve high praise for their courapeousues*. Corner has already saved one life from drowning.
