PRIZE DISTRIBUTIONS.

NEW BRIGHTON. The children of the New Brighton School gave a most successful concert, the Schoolroom being crowded with parents and others. Every item on the programme waß well given, and speaks volumes for tho pains taken by Mr Bishop and Miss .Gardener, the teachers. At the conclusion of the concert Mr Wiony, Chairman of the School Committee, presented the prizes, also the special prizes given by Mesdames R. C. Bishop and Stranaghan, Messrs Pine, Winny, Parrott, Matcolmson.Dearsley, Wells and Sef ton. The following is the prize list :— Standard I.—Mabel Oakley, Florrie Cramp, Madge Rollitt, Pearl King. Standard ll.— Gertrude Schmidt, Mabel Bellamy, Stanley Winny. Standard lU.—Ruby* Manning, Jim Bellamy, Fred Cramp, Percy Patrick, Percy Smith. Standard IV.—Elsie Free, Ruby Winny, S. Mullins, Grace Manning, Evelyn Moor. Standard V.—Violet Shaw, Kate Pine, Roy» Granger, May Byrne, Harold Blake. Standard VL — Hans Schmidt, C. Robinson, Victor Curtis. Wm. Robinson, Abby Lawry. Standard VIL— Bella Foster, Ada Whitly, Ruby Suckling, Winny McLaster, Mary Tubman. Special prizes—Attendance, Ruby Suckling, Anna Tubman, Con Robinson, William Robinson, Haas Schmidt, Harold Blake, Mary Glanville, Brenda Wells, Stanley Wells, Percy Pine, Harry Pine, L. Sims, Vernon Wyatt, Constance White, Effie White, Violet Wills, Daisy Pine, Thomas Tubman, A. Lythberg; conduct. Hans Schmidt, Abby Lawry, Stanley Winny, Effie White ; mapping, W. Robinson, May Byrne, Maud Robinson, Alice Watt; singing, Ivy Foster, Nellie Moor; sewing. In addition, every child who passed in the various standards received a Christmas gift. Mr Winny then on behalf of the children presented Mr Bishop with a beautiful pocketbook, and Miss Gardener with a handsome purse. Mr Bishop thanked the children oa behulf of MUi Gtardraw aaa biautU.

Alter three hearty cheers for tho teachers and the Committee, a most enjoying gathering was brought to a close.
