DRESS FABRICS.
Never have dress materials been prettier and more fanciful than they are this season ; crepon takes the lead and appears in so many guises that one can only say, "long may'it flourish," if it is going to be always new and always so pretty as it is now. Amongst the newest effects in crepons, which by the bye are particularly light in texture this season, are large spots, raised
waved lines, and waved ribbon bands in bright mohair wool that looks exactly like silk. In the spotted crepons the spot is sometimes in the same shade as the ground, but in these as in the other fancy crepons contrasts of colour predominate. Blue on blue, pink on blue, blue on brown or black, and. most daring of all, green on blue, giving true peacock colouring, are favourite combinations. Plain crepons are also to l>e worn, but these are plain in colour only, the texture is crimped and goffered in mamnovel ways. Besides these, for summer dresses, there are many fascinating materials in silk and wool in small patterns and dainty combinations of colour, fine corduroys in silk and wool and a host of tempting" new fabrics.
