A most interesting description of the overland journey from Auckland to Napier has been written by Ma. Chables M. Phillips, who, acting specially on behalf of the Weekly Pbess, was occupied over two months in taking Photographs and noting the chief features of this interesting trip. The number also contains as a Supplement an ARTISTIC COLLOTYPE CHRISTMAS CARD; Entitled "A MAORI CHRISTMAS GREETING."

Following Mr. Phillips'a narrative, is published a COMPLETE NOVELETTE, Clever, Lively and Interesting, by the Brilliant Novelist, Robert Buchanan, the sole right of publication of which has been secured by the Proprietors of the Weekly Press. It is entitled A MAEEIAGE BYCAPTUEE, By EOBEBT BUCHANAN, Author of " The Shadow of the Sword," " The Tryst of Arranmore, ,1 '" Stormy Waters," " God and the Man," &o.', &c. In addition to the above-mentioned Novelette the number contains a Chbistitas Stoby, entitled HER LADYSHIP'S PAPA, By G. E. Sims. Author of " Lights o' London," " Tales of To-day," " Dramas of Life," &c., &c. And a Short Story, LIGHT AND SHADOW, By David McKke Wbight. Author of " Mignonette," " The Man Who Could Bun," &c, «fee. "Beautifully designed, but of no earthly use," is the verdict pronounced npon the CHRISTMAS CARDS usually received from our friends. The Proprietors o the Wsesly Press recognising the justness of this complaint have prepared their CHRISTMAS NUMBER with a view of making it a really valuable, useful and beautiful CHRISTMAS CARD, and suitable to be sent as a Christmas souvenir to any part of the colony, or, in fact, any part of the world.
