ST. ALBANS.
An ordinary meeting of the St. Albans Borough Council was held last evening. Present—The Mayor (Mr F. Waymouth), and Crs. Keig, Millton, Morgan, fte&te, Charlewood, Glass, Wake and Money. The Finance Committee reported that the receipts since last meeting had been £352 5s lid, and accounts amounting to £381 17s 10d were recommended for payment. The report was adopted, The reports of the Works Committee, Foreman of Works and Inspector of Slaughterhouses were also dealt with. The Inspector-General of Hospitals wrote, stating that nothing could be done with regard to representation under the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act until the law was altered. It was decided to represent the matter to the proper authorities and to the members for the district. <A letter from the Avon Boad Board re a proposed culvert in May's road was referred to the Works Committee. Cγ. Charlewood was elected a member of the Finance Committee, and the Mayor a member of all Committees. The question of providing another watercart for the Papanui road, mentioned by the Mayor, was referred to the Works Committee.
