THUESDAY'S PRODUCE REPORT.
• (by our commercial editor.) Southern holders of Oais seem to be show, ing rather more disposition to sell juet now, aud offers of lines of both long and short have been made to this market from Southern ports throughout the week. The general tone of the market is slightly easier, although prices have so far been pretty well maintained. The long varieties are the most difficult to place, and orders from outside have generally to be filled exclusively with short stout feed. Wheat is without change, business being very restricted. There are very few buyers about just now, and a month of dull trade in this line may be regarded as more than likely. Prices stand nominally at 3s 8d to 3s 9d, these values representing only prime qualities. Barley is nob asked for, and trade is quite " hung up" for the present. Probably there will be some little outside enquiry when the new crop cornea on to the market. The enquiry for Chaff has fallen away to some extent the last few days, the abundance of green feed naturally militating against the the sale of dry-feed stuffs. Sales are being made here and there on the basis of our recent quotations of 60s and 623 6d. AU other lines of produce are out of the market, and prices purely nominal. [These quotations, unless otherwise specified, are the net cash prices paid to the producer free of brokerage or. .commission, and for delivery at country stations within a twenty-five mile radius of town. . For delivery on board ship at Lyttelton add 2d to per bushel. ]
