LYTTELTON REGATTA.

A meeting of the Committee of this regatta was held on Friday evening. Praeenfc—The Commodore (Mr J. Joyce, M.H.R.), Messrs Dimond, Rhind, Brice, Schumacher, Collins, Willie, Field, Ashley, Mitford, Soaden, Harkise, Jack, Galbraith, Ferrier, Beverley, Smith, and Lewin (Hon. Secretary). The oollectore reported that a good deal of canvassing would be required to bring the subscriptions up to laat year's amount. The tender of Mr J. T. Morton to provide aubsoribere' luncheon waf accepted. Mr Stokes submitted a pro* gramme of fireworks, which was con* aidered highly satisfactory, and the Committee thought the display would far exceed? anything of the kind previously attempted in New Zealand. An inoreaaed sum was also voted for the display. With '% view of adding to its attractiveness. The Commodore explained what wae'beincr done by the Committee of the Canterbury Yacht Club with a view of raising a fund for inoreaeing the first prize in the Yacht Babe to £100. After a conversational discussion the officials of the Yacht dab present—Messrs J. Joyce, J. H. Collins and J. Stinson — guaranteed the sum of £40 to enable the prize to be raised to £100 if an outside yachc competed. A hearty vote of thanka was accorded to those gentlemen for their liberality. V. Styohe; Referees, Messrs T. L. Smith and J. F. Grioraon; Sailing Committee (to consider and decide disputes arising out of the sailing races), Captain Clark, Rev. £. E. Chambers, Messrs F. Waymouth, O. Ferrier* B. Westenra, and G. A. Lewin.
