HAWKE'S BAY.
Napier, November 25. Another round of Senior Cup matches was commenced on Saturday, and some Sad scoring took place. The United and unty teams met at Farndou. and the former going in first remained at the wickets the whole afternoon, making the good total of 253 for the loss of but six wickets. Lusk was top scorer with 65, while Johnson made 45, C. B. Cato 44, Sainsbury 31, Marshall 28 not out, and Ludbrook 27. The County bowling was weak, and their fielding poor, several catches being missed. Waiapu and Napier tried conclusions at the Recreation Ground, and the former had considerably the best of the day's play. Napier went in first, but with the exception of White (48) and Wolstenholme (30) none of the batsmen reached double figures, and the whole side was dismissed for 95, nine of the team and extras accounting for but 17 runs between them. Beale and Gore divided the bowling honours. Waiapu then went in, and at the call of time they had made 121 for the loss of four wickets, A. C. Bennett contributing 70 not out and A. M. Beale 26. Bennett hit very hard, making only three singles, but he had a bit of luck on one occasion in not being given run out.
