MR MICHAEL DAVITT.

Mr Davitt arrived at Wellington on Saturday afternoon, and was met by Sir P. Buckley, the Hon. E. Blake, Archbishop Redwood, Dr. Gracs, the Hon. McCullough and other leading mea. Later in the day a formal welcome was tendered to him at the Occidental Hotel. It was intended to present him with a purse of sovereigns, but he declined. Representatives were present from the National Federation, the Labour bodies, the Women's Associations, &c. The speeches were of the briefest description, and confined to expressions of welcome. He lectures to-night and leaves for Napier on Monday.
