ANECDOTES OF AN ACTOR.

Mr Forbes Robertson has been telling sj Strand Magazint interviewer some of hit amusing experiences during his stage career. Tho late Tom Meade, who was such a splendid ghost m " Hamlet," used to appear at the Lyceum, and in a certain play know little of his part. At his firub entrance he completely stuck, and in order to himself, with a view to getting some idea of the words, he walked down with a tragic stride to . the footlights, and said, "Ah ! here 1 am !"' bub the words would not come, so hi walked back again. Still he could not re* member, so he proceeded to 'walk once more to the footlights ; and, even with greater einphaeis than before, exclaimed—*" Here I am !" and somebody in the gallery cried out. " All right, Tom ; we see you are. Get on !" Another anecdote relates to the same actor. In one part of the play, where Meade was judging some due who WM brought up before him, in order to help himself to remember the text, he kept cry ing out— ,. Oh, Paul I'—that was the name of the character—" Oh, Paul!]" till at last the exclamation '* Oh, Paul !" bßcame so frequent that someone iv the audience exclaimed in a very audible whisper—"Ob, Paul, Paul, wherefore peraecutesb thon mc?"
