OAMAUU.

(DV OCR SPECIAL UKIOUTEK.)

OAMARU, November 22.

Tiie wefcther for the oecond day of tho (Umani show was uufortunately worse than thai, which prevailed on the first day, au int :eM»iii downpour of rain convening the •.round iulo deep pools of water and sea 3of jlmu, aud making things wretchedly unitlrasiiit for all concerned. The judging vina cousetjusutly carried oa under great difficulties, and noithe- horses nor cattle could be seen to advantage. Tha attendmice of the general public w.« naturally very limited, and lite extremely wot weather, though beneficial from the farmers' point of view, will result in a serious financial loa< to the Nor tn Ot<ij;o Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the total takings at thu gates for the two days being under £50. XJjB work for the day commenced with the judging of the balauca of tho cattle. The New Zealand and Australian Land Company were the ouly exhibitors of polled angiHj but some °* the beat of their 'j'oura herd wore sent forward, and, under more favourable conditions, these would hive cominamlod a let of favourable attention trom tho general public, as well as from cattle breeders. The judges, toa, have uiually had a long arduous ta9k, frequently not getting through their laboum till late in the evening. On the present occasion their work was much lighter, not on account of uny falling otf in quality, but owing to there being leas in number and fewer exhibitors in each class. Nor did the fact of their having to waile ankle deep in mud, and Btand out in a pelting rain cause the judges to dwell unnecessarily long over their work. Fcurgood ones were entered in the class for aged stallions, and ufter a lot of careful suiiitiny the judges awarded the first honour to Mr Thos. Mce'a Lord Lyon, Mr T. Liken'a Heart of Oak being placed second, and the Uon. SI. Holmes' Prince Consort third. Lord Lyon was subsequently awarded the champion honour. Some good yearling colts and yearly fillies were shown, Mi* Holmee taking the bulk of the prizes in these classes. He was also first in the brood mare and dry mare classes, Mr G.
