A SHOCKING SIGHT.
A terrible sight was witnessed by the passengers on the P. and 0. R.M.S. Valetta on $he passage from London to Sydney. The ves3el had just anchored in Atlea harbour, and all the passengers were assembled on deck, when two Somali boys came alongside and commenced diving for silver coiue thrown overboard by the people on the mailboat. The diving feats of the two lads were being watched with considerable interest, when suddenly two sharks appeared, and in a moment seized the terrorstricken natives and literally tore them to pieces before the eyes of the passengers. Several attempts wore made to reecue the lads and frighten away the monsters, bnfc without success. The sharks were about 18£& long, and it ia rarely that suoh large ones have been seen in those waters. The occurrence did not seem to impress other Somali boya who were there, for soon afterwards they were clangorous for the pxeeenqcrs to throw monej into the water, offering to dive for it. As a matter of course there was no response to their entreaties after the shocking eight which bad been witnessed.
