McLaren) manager seed department), reports :— A week of genial showers has put our farmers in good heart, the weather being all that could possibly be desired, bearing out the remark made by a very old farmer in tbe early sixties that at this season of the year Canterbury could do with a shower every day in the week and two on Sundays. Business remains practically tho same as when we last wrote, values being unaltered, with the one exception of heavy machined ryegrass, which is saleable to-day in reason, ably large parcels at 4s 6d per bushel; market by no means over-stocked. Artificial manures coutinuo well to the front, stocks of both imported and local manufacturers rapidly running down. Fuon's No. 1 special turnip fertiliser £6 10*. Fison's special superphosphate £5 10s. Aberdeen turnip sorts 5.3. Other varieties from 54s to 565. Broad le-vcd Essex rape, ex Aotea 22s 6d ewt. 7555
