COURTENAY.
A meeting of this Board was held on October Bth. All the members were present. Tenders were opened for the cutting and grubbing of _;orse and broom at the western boundary, of R.S. 4457, and that of T. Redely, at 4s 3d per chain, was accepted. Correspondence was read—From the Commissioner of Taxes ro balance of subsidy (£22 17s 9d) due ; from the Auditor General with the balance sheet of the Board, certified as being correct; from the manager of the Malvern waterrace, requesting to be informed whether the Board have any objection to an open crossing being put down in the place of che present pipe culvert across the Halkett and Templeton road. From C. McCausland, asking permission to take water race water alongside his fence on tbe tramway road for a distance of twelve chains. Granted. From A. Gnnn, re culvert on the road leading to bis house. The Clerk was instructed to forward the necessary timber. From the Selwyn County Council, re closing the road on the south side of the Malvern water race between Easendon road and the Malvern boundary. In consequence of certain persons having f-iled to comply with the Board's notice for the removal of gorse and broom from roads, it was resolved chat in future cases of non-compliance legal proceedings should be at once taken on the expiry of tbe notice. It was resolved—" That the rangers be instructed to lay informations against persons found tailing or herding stock on the pnblic roads " ; and '* that the Board purchase small birds and eggs at 2d per dozen after November Ist next.
