The a.s. Wakatipu arrived at 11 a.m. from Sydney, via Wellington. She Jeft Sydney at 8.15 p m. on the 2lat, arrived at Wellington at 8 p.m. on the 261h, and sailed again at 7 p.m. on the 27th. She encountered very Btrong easterly winds and high seas on the 24th, and then moderate to fine weather till arrival.

The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P. and 0. Co.), having entered into a contract with the Italian Government for a threo-weekly service between Venice, Briudisi and Port Slid, the steamers engaged in the service contiuuo their voyage from the latter port to Bombay. Passengers from Australia can change at Port Said or Brindisi te the steamers for Venice if desirous of proceeding to that port.
