(press association telegram.) PALMERSTON NORTH, August 31. Mauawatu defeated Wanganui by 16 poiDtß to 8. In the first spell Wanganui obtained «, gal from a penalty goal, and secured a try, from which a goal was kicked. In the second spell Manawatu obtained four tries (Richards two, Pyke and Shannon one each), two being converted.
