TEMPERANCE CONVENTION.
<e> (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM. > INVERCARGILL, August 6. At the Temperauce Convention to-day resolutions were carried affirming the desirableness of having physiological tern* perance teaching in public schools, also recognising wiih great satisfaction the forward position of temperance reform in the colony, and expressing deep regret at the laxity shown in the administration of the licensing laws, aud calling upon the Government to take active measures without delay to have the law enforced. At a largely atteuded meeting this evening, the Mayor presiding, the resolutions protesting against the provisions of the Government Licensing Bill, passed at the Convention yesterday, were endorsed unanimously.
