The Statutes Revision Committee ha\ made various amendments in the Evideno* Further Amendment Bill, incorporating wit& it the Hon. Mr McGregor's Law of Evidence Amendment Bill. The new features include a provision by which the Courb is left to decide whether a witness need answer any question put in cross-examination, relative to matter not relevant to the proceedings, except in so far as it affects hie credit by iujuricg his character. The Court may prevent any scandalous or indecent. questions, unless they relate to the faote iq issue, and shall forbid any question intended to insult or annoy, or which appears need , , lessly offensive. Questions which the Courf would not permit to be put must nob be published. In poisoning cases, evidence as to the administration of poison by tht accused to other persons, or at other timee. shall be relevant.
