INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.

The Executive Committee of the Industrial Exhibition met at 5 p.m. yesterday. Present—Messrs H. B. Kirk (President), R. W. England, Curlett, Triggs, Hunt, Horsley. E. C. Bi3hop, R. Allan. Charters, S. H. Seagerand Capt. M'Ciatchie.

The Chairman* reported that since the last meetiag several little matters had been dealt with. The building had been insured for £1500 on certain conditions. A.s they would hare seen, one of the members of the House for the city, Mr G. J. Smith, was moving in the direction of the adjournment of the House to visit the Exhibition, and he hoped that he would be successful. The Caledonian Society had generously given the use of their room for the children takiug part iv the music for the opening ceremony and had also, at the request of the Chairman of the Exhibition Committee, agreed to give a national concert during the visit of the Governor. The quastion of exhibitors' passes had to be considered that day, and also the caretakers of the building. The Committee would have to settle the cjue3tion of the hour.

Captain McClatcuie reported the offer of cos>!s for the Committee-room free of charge by Mr T. ilcCiatcine. The offer was accepted, with thanks. Correspondence was read as under:— From Mr A. Gundersen, ro the supply of electric tell-tale clocks. He suggested chat there should be five stations iv the new buildings, and two in the Drillshed. Mr Tkiggs moved—" That the Committee cannot entertain the offer." Mr Ccrlett seconded the motion. Mr Hart moved as an amendment— " That Mr Gundersen be requested to reconsider hi 3 offer." Mr Horslev seconded the ameudment, which was carried. A telegram was read from the Speaker of the Legislative Council with respect to the invitation to visit the Exhibition. The telegram was received. Several applications were received from persons desirous of obtaining situations at the Exhibition, and deferred for farther consideration.

A telegram was received from &fr D, H. Hastings, Dunedin, asking when the Exhibition closed.

It was resolved to reply that the Committee had decided at present to keep the Exhibition open for one month at least.

Oα the questiou of railway excursions, Mr At,LAN moved—"That the railway authorities be requested to run Exhibition excursion trains, aud that all tickets issued by the railway shonld include admission to tho Exhibition on a form similar to the pattern attached. The extra charge for such admission to be 9J for adults and 4d for children. That a sub-Committee, consisting of Messrs Kirk, Allan, Bishop, and Charters, be appointed to wait on Mr Gaw on the matter."

Mr Tbiggs seconded the motion, which was carried.

Mr Bishop moved— ,. That the Exhibition be opened each day from 11 a.in. to 5 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m."

Mr Allan seconded the motion, which was carried with one dissentient.

Mr Hart reported that he had written to the Uuiou Steamship Company and $o Messrs Kiusey ana Co., agents for Huddart Parker and Co., with reference to cheap steam excursion fares. A reply bad been received from Messrs Kinsey and Co., stating that excursions would be run and that tiiey would ask the Jagents in other porta to advertise cheap fares for the Exhibition. The letter stated also that the linn would do everything to facilitate the success of the Exhibition. No reply had yet been received from the Union Steamship Company.

Mr Charters, as Chairman of the Printing Committee, reported that the catalogue was in the hands of the printer. All the advertisements were collected by Monday last.

Some discussion ensued as to the issue of season tickets. Mr Bishop moved—" That season tickets at £1 Is each be issued, current during the time the Exhibition is open. Each applicant to forward a photo, to be attached to the ticket." Mr Curlett seconded the motion, which w&s carried. .. .; ..-, Mr Hart moved—"That ib be an instruction to the Printing Committee to have the season tickets printed at once, and that the Secretary advertise when ready that they can be obtained." Mr England seconded the motion, which was carried. Tho question of exhibitors' passes was considered, and, afcer aotne discussion, Mr Allan moved—" That all exhibitors shall be entitled to one free pass; in the cases where a large exhibit requires attendance the attendant to receive admission in the day." This was not seconded. Mr Tbiggs moved—"That free admission be granted to exhibitors during the day only." Mr Hart seconded this. Mr Bishop moved, as an amendment, " That each exhibitor be admitted on a season ticket at a charge of ss. Attendants to be admitted on workmen's tickets to be issued at the discretion of the executive." Mr England seconded the amendment, which was carried on a show of hands.

Io was resolved on the motion of Mr Bishop—"That the Entertainment Committee be requested to consider the question of charging Is for a portion of the hall as reserve seats on the occasion of all the entertainments."

Mr England seconded the motion, which was carried.

Mr S. H. Seager reported that the Workers Committee had very nearly enough workers. What they wanted was a fret saw worker. They had the power necessary for the workers, which had been arranged for at a small coat.

Mr Trigqs reported that Mr Turnbull, of Wellington, had offered to let the Committee have an arc lamp free of charge, and also, if the Committee paid the carriage to and from Wellington, to lee them have an electric-motor.

It was resolved that the Exhibition Committee write to the Minister for Lands, asking that the dairy expert be seat down to hold classes during the Exhibition, explaining the processes of the dairy industry.

After dealing with several other routine matters the meeting adjourned.
