Alleged Assault. —Thomas Thompson, charged with assaulting a little girl, aged aeveu years, at Papanui, oa July 30fcb, was, on the application of the police, adjourned till August 2nd. Larcesy as a Bailee—Frederick Ellis, arrested iv Wellington, was charged with appropriating au article of wearhii* apparel valued at £2, the property of Jane Butler. He pleaded "Guilty," The accused, who had been entrusted with a petticoat to tieliver in -Wellington, sold it in Christchurch. Act.—John Mauson wub by Win. Stevens, potindkeeper, with having on. July. 3rd, at Ka.bbic Island, rescued two horses which it was alleged had been irespassing aud were seized to be impounded.
